Weekly Musings #1 – London, Leaves, and Fireworks.

“Hope makes a good breakfast. Eat plenty of it.”― Ian Fleming, From Russia With Love

The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind, with so much to do and so little time. I am still convinced that someone in the sky is playing around with the buttons on the ‘remote’ to life…Weekly Musings #1 - London, Leaves, and Fireworks.

But as the city begins to quieten down and evenings turn mellower, leaves rustle around in the parks and streets, and everything really does get just that little bit more sparkly…

Autumn has been WAY too beautiful this week! Snap happy. All of the leaves are so colourful. Me and Kristi were saying only yesterday… fall truly is a colour of its own!

Also, is it a thing to enjoy walking around graveyards from time to time? They’re so peaceful and pretty.

College reading week has finally come to an end too… just don’t ask me how much reading I’ve actually done; because photo shoots have been plentiful and procrastination has been high…

I had the best ending to this week with my lovely geography buddy – Jessie. After an amazing breakfast at Canteen London over the Southbank, we took the “long way” back to Uni. Apparently the secret to productive afternoons in the library is long breezy walks and runny yolks. #notetoself #Eggscellence.

Being lucky enough to study at such a central university just off of Oxford Street; I really shouldn’t be taken the city for granted – but it’s so hard not to get consumed by these looming piles of work! It’s too easy to forget just how beautiful London can be at this time of the year. There is so much out there to see and do.

So HEY: Highlight of the fortnight – Fireworks anyone? The Lord Mayors fireworks from Blackfriars Bridge last night were beautiful! The rain was torrential though…there were inch high streams of water flowing down the street. Once the fireworks were over, the road transformed into one huge, static sea of people who were all trying to squish their way back into the station. Everything got wet. Absolutely everything.

And as crazy as they have been, the past few weeks have still been fun! A while ago, a few of us foodies went post-double-lecture burger spotting at one of the Friday food markets behind Leicester square and then Calvin + I headed off to capture some chilled out street photography before it got dark. How amazing does this food look?!

I also really love this photograph that was taken on the backstreets of Soho, from the warmth of the shop exterior to the expression on the guys face; this is definitely one of my favourites so far! – They must have been tourists, right? 😉

There is also something so ridiculously cosy about coffee shops + windows + people + lights. *melts* I can’t even.

I wish I could have a hot chocolate and marshmallows and an all day ticket to watch the world go by…

Pretty please can someone just send over some dark chocolate and tell the best friend to come back home for a day? (Okay, so in all fairness…she actually did. And then I went and wasted 2 hours of that precious time by making her wait for 2 hours for me in a train station) Love you forever, Em!

Finally, I am currently really enjoying the idea of regularly doing these ‘musing’ themed posts! I always seem to collect so many pictures over the course of a fortnight and never really do much with them, so I figured this would be a nice little outlet to pin them up on + to rant a little (a lot) about everything. A lot of blogs tend to favour them, so giving it go seems like a nice idea. But what do you guys think? Sorry for the photo bombardment – decision has never been my strong point 😉

Is anything special scheduled for you this week? What’s the prettiest place near to you at this time of the year?

I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Love Tash xo

Haha. I like how everyone in the coffee shop was on the phone.

Sometimes I look around at work in the staff room and everyone is just sat at their own on their phone and I’m like WHAT IS LIFE?

It’s a strange world where people can be replaced by machines.

I love these photos, you’re so lucky to study in London. I studied in Bradford. I don’t think that city has a pretty bone in it’s body!

    Give me that burger.

    Have a lovely weekend!

Wow the colours in these photos are stunning! So vibrant. You’ve captured autumn so beautifully. Brighton doesn’t seem as colourful. It always seems rather pastel around here and the leaves I’ve seen have all been yellow. This post makes me want to curl up in a warmly lit coffee shop with a good book. :)

I always enjoy regular round up posts! Beautiful photos, bringing autumn magically to life. Also, those eggs look so yum.

I love these types of posts and all of your pictures are so nice. My favorite ones are the black and white picture of the building and the burger and fries. The only thing special scheduled for me this week is my husband’s birthday. I’m not sure what the nicest Fall place is near me yet. I still getting acquainted with Washington state.

Aw thanks so much for having (and telling me!) your fav pics! I always find it fascinating to find out what other people like about photos…everybody seems to see something different about a single picture! And Happy birthday to your husband, I’m sure he will be spoiled rotten with all of your delicious baking :)

Beautiful photos! Autumn really is such a gorgeous time of the year. Even here in San Diego where we don’t get too drastic seasonal changes, there have been some pretty trees with red and orange leaves around that I’ve been admiring!

    • http://www.tealightsky.com Tashiana

Pretty trees with red and orange leaves are just the best <3 I hate it when it rains and they all turn soggy and just sort of die on the pavement...it feels like they're being wasted! Thanks Nicole :)

Stunning photos! Autumn is my favourite season, as the colours as just so pretty! For me, I love visiting the countryside near where I live, especially on a cold, frosty day :)

Can I just say that you have THE most perfect hair ever?! What are your secrets?! Haha, and these Fall photos are gorgeous. I love the different hues in the leaves.

Aww, this photos are fabulous pretty lady! I love San Francisco (and the 75 degree weather we’re having!) but I DO miss the Fall colors. Hope you had a great weekend!

Those eggs look incredible! I’ve never been to Canteen before, but it’s now on my list. Beautiful photos in this post, Tash! Were these all taken on your Canon? I love the coffee shop window ones in particular. My guess is that the couple were out-of-London tourists, from the countryside somewhere! x

I second the feeling that there’s someone messing with the remote- I still kinda feel like July was just last weekend? How is it already the middle of November?! Terrifying. Also, you took THE most beautiful nature photos! I had to stare a full minute at the third photo- the light coming through the trees is just magic. You have a real talent with the camera :)

I adore the beautiful landscape photos featured in this post. What an insightful saying, “Fall is truly a color of its own.” Indeed, it is. Happy Tuesday, Tash :)

Fabulous pictures – the food, the fireworks, everything! We just got back from a short trip to the New England area (in the US) and it was really relaxing and calm. No fireworks but we settled for lobsters and ocean views. : ) And PS- you have amazing hair! : )

  • http://the.pyreflies.org Jessica

Look at those fireworks, so pretty! Round up posts are great… I was doing them for awhile but then I started working more on digital art and literally that was all my week consisted of… me sitting in front of a computer screen all day so the posts stopped. Trying to do them monthly now. Anyways, just found your blog. Looking forward to reading more of yours posts!

I love watching the fog over lakes at this of year! Something inside my brain tells me that watching fog is worth waking up at 6am to freeze outside :p

PS: Those nature photos are just out of this world amazing!
